QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

THE BASIC TACTICAL POLICE SNIPER COURSE

February 18-22, 2009   Report:

It is not a fair fight nor should it be.  It takes moral courage, a focused mental attitude and the deadly touch of a tactically trained professional on the trigger.  As shot placement goes, it is the art of achieving precision excellence wherein:  Point of Aim becomes Point of Impact!  The success of your mission demands it.  STRIKE INTERNATIONAL

Strike International would like to extend to all students who participated in the Basic Tactical Police Sniper Course, "A job well done!"  It was not an easy course nor should it be.  The requirement for making a technical precise shot with a rifle weapon system is demanding, exact and unforgiving.  We asked each student to give us their very best for five days.  In return we gave them long days of absorbing volumes  of detailed information, mental focusing, intensity, precision shooting, dynamic drills and two days in "The Pit" with one of those being a night firing exercise.  It was a challenging week and from the written critiques all participants agreed that they learned more than they thought they possibly could.  Additionally, the success of this course must be attributed to the leadership and dedication of our two lead instructors, Jude Braun and Keith Rieg.  Thank you gentlemen.

THE COURSE OBJECTIVES AND GOALS:

To enable the student to acquire the basic fundamental skills and tactics with a precision rifle system that reaches a technical level of proficient confidence.  Further, to help the student develop the knowledge and skills to quickly and efficiently analyze, and report critical field intelligence.  To be able to safely, accurately and consistently, provide rifle cover and rifle support fire when conducting tactical operations as a police sniper.

It started by setting the parameters of standards and expectations as well as safety protocols. It then quickly moved to receiving volumes of information on shooting fundamentals, ballistics, weather effects, data books, optics, mil-dots and....it seemed to go forever. Next, came setting the rifles up for each individual shooter, checking optics, and working on correct shooting fundamentals to finally getting on the range and getting some trigger time.

Students quickly learned the importance of Mental Focusing. It does not matter where you shoot from, the position you’re in, the weather you may be subjected to, or having to endure a plague of mounting stressors. What matters is having the ability to momentarily isolate yourself mentally and physically from everything else around you. It is being able to go deep inside yourself in order to acquire a millisecond of absolute perfection! The formula; MF = MS (Mission Focus = Mission Success). Spending two days in “The Pit” showed everyone how importance this concept was. Students got on the guns and did some remarkable shooting even at night!

Finally, we at Strike International want to extend a tremendous “Thank You” to two individuals. First, Little Elm Police Officer and firearms instructor Brad Wilcox for allowing us the opportunity to use “The Pit.” The time we spent there was invaluable! Second, a deep “Thank You” goes to Denton County Sheriff’s - Range Master Don Stewart, for all his hard work and making everyone feel welcomed. Thank you so much Don for opening your facility to us it was much appreciated.

At the end of the week I think each student realized they had completed a course wherein; they achieved something unique and personally rewarding. Nothing was given to them; they earned every bit of it themselves. It was a great school.
